	<description><![CDATA[<img src="news/VETRINELAMPADECALENDOSCOPIO.jpg" class="imgnews" height="200px" /><p><b>DSQUARED² E-MOTION BY GASTON MARTICORENA</b></p>Milan April 23 - Dean and Dan Caten of Dsquared2 collaborate with American designer Gaston Marticorena to produce an art installation for Salone del Mobile April 22-27 at the Dsquared2 boutique on Via Verri, 4.
Marticorena’s pieces of design, often discussed and sometimes controversial have quickly met the favor of the public and have been purchased in the past by celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker and David Bowie. 
Since then, the Caten twins were impressed by creations of this young artist and recently decided to work together to design &quot;Six Hands&quot;. This new work will highlight different areas in the Milan boutique using various lamp sculpture and kaleidoscope techniques from early film experiments. They will project light onto six different stylish silhouettes from the 1930’s with men in tails - reminiscent of Fred Astaire on Broadway. This also is likened to the Dsquared Fall/Winter 2009 men’s and women’s show which held a similar theme. Stylized figures of owls and deer are also included as a direct reference to the Canadian woods.
Finally the Dsquared boutique further sets the mood with a celebration of the artist’s interpretation of forest. This strengthens the presence of the twin’s Canadian roots in the project.  They use recycled materials and plaster to recreate squirrels, leaves and logs.

Canadian identical twins Dean and Dan Caten of DSQUARED&sup2; are continuing to seduce Young Hollywood starlets and pop royalty with their pioneering and provocative designs. The Circus Tour, Britney’s first arena tour in five years, will feature custom designed DSQUARED&sup2; costumes for Britney and her dancers for the first segment of the concert.  Traditional circus characters such as trapeze artists, clowns, and jugglers, are given a reinterpreted aesthetic with provocative, sinister, and sensualised “sado” concepts.
Each concert will begin with a video segment on stage that will feature a star studded medley of personalities.  As Britney calls out to the freaks and weirdoes of the circus, Dean and Dan appear as her new-found ring-masters, dressed in tails and heels; ambiguously sexualized and indiscriminate. Arrays of talented characters make a provocative grand entrance from beneath the skirt of gossip king, Perez Hilton. Britney will then appear, dressed in a Betty Page inspired lingerie dress, equipped with a cross-bow, challenging the gossipers and paparazzi.  
Appearing as both the beast and the ringmaster simultaneously, Britney’s first on-stage DSQUARED&sup2; costume is inspired by a seductive, circus lion-tamer.  She will appear in a red jacket with royal blue duchesse cuffs and gold braided details. The jacket’s shoulders, covered in long flowing animal hair, further enhances the look. The costume is topped off with a replica cheetah head adorned with black tulle and ostrich feathers. Equipped with fishnet stockings, lace up boots and a whip, she is ready to take on whomever is thrown into her ring.  
Britney’s second look lies beneath her first. As she peels off her ringmaster persona, she is exposed as a sexy dominatrix in a three-piece vixen corset and panty set enriched with Swarovski&reg; crystals and draped chiffon. In this look Britney is surrounded and ultimately thrown into a cage by a parade of muzzled, chain-bound, leather-clad sex slaves. Additional DSQUARED&sup2; costumes will feature menacing “sado-clowns”, Parisian balancing acts, salacious centaurs and chiselled and chained Houdini men.

The event celebrates protagonists in the world of art, design, sport and theatre who each wish to donate their Christmas Tree creation.
Dean and Dan Caten, designers of Dsquared2, decided to support this important benefit event, now in its fifteenth year of celebration.  Funds raised with the donation of their  typical Canadian Christmas tree went to support the Pediatric Hospital of Bambin Gesu’.  
The tree decorated by the Caten twins incorporated the scents of their childhood at Christmastime, and was adorned with red berries, white snow-covered branches, and lanterns with reindeer.  Small, artisanal braids of wood, sparkling white lights, and tartan bows (an essential element of the season), completed the decorations.  A heavy coat of snow covered the branches of the Dsquared2 tree, reminiscent of the typically abundant amounts of snow that falls in the twins’ home land.
The twins gave a celebratory toast for the upcoming holidays to many friends and acquaintances present at the Gala: actress Giulia Elettra Gorietti of the film “Tre metri sopra il cielo”, dancers from the game-show “Amici” Ambeta Toromani and Jos?erez, and Olympic fencing bronze-medallist from the recent Summer Games in Beijing, Diego Occhiuzzi.

Presenting the award to the Caten twins was the stunning international top model Teresa Lourenco, dressed in a Dsquared&sup2;  total look.
“We are extremely pleased” say Dean and Dan Caten, “to have received recognition of this level of importance, and to be awarded this prize together with Hans-Dietrich Genscher, a man who helped change history in support of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Open now, in partnership agreement with Joyce, leader for distribution of the most prestigious brands of luxury, the two-level, 2,727-square-foot site at Central On-Lan Street incorporates design features from Dsquared2’s Milan flagship store and evokes the brand’s intriguing blend of woodsy wit and urban glamour.
Visitors approaching the store from street level encounter a clean-lined fa?e of double-height glass and brushed-metal elements describing geometric forms. Two levels of display space surround the entrance and immediately signal the Dsquared2 aesthetic with raw-wood accents and indeed the rawest of wood – tree trunks – rising through both levels.
Inside, many signs of minimalistic reserve melt away like a late-spring snow. Natural hues balance otherwise definitely modern elements. Luxurious fitting areas behind leather-trimmed doors and surrounded by light-barked tree trunk with soft padded cubes for a sit down before a wall of high mirrors.  A northern territory where antlers hang from walls and ceilings while flame images flicker from LCD screens above plush furniture. Elsewhere, multiple mirror pieces reflect the brightness of flown stage lighting, shoots stand displayed against walls, wood panels hang from the ceiling. Stacked timbers provide smooth-grained interior sectioning on one side and a more rough-hewn look around each corner.
Here the outside is in – expect birch trees jutting from the floor –Not only the forests of Canada but also the pure preserve of Mother Nature herself is fully conjured.  For such effects the Catens have entrusted Italian architectural studio Storage to bring their vision to Hong Kong. In addition to the Via Verri flagship store in Milan, the firm also designed Dsquared2’s headquarters in Milan and New York City as well as the brand’s boutiques round the world.
The new Hong Kong store will boldly summon the complete Dsquared2 lifestyle. The brand’s full offering of distinctive ready-to-wear and diverse accessories will be available, all creations further reinforcing the abiding

Takin’ you back to the fabulous ‘70s is the intent for the new Dsquared&sup2; S/S 2009 men’s collection.
The decades between the ‘60s and ‘80s began the inspiration of the collection.  However, the ‘70s was the bridge of cultural change in American street life. At the heart, social interactions, slang, music, and the style of dress and hair were all different.
The ghettos bred a scene of intense creative expression.  The scene is a local Afro-American corner barber shop where the boys of the Dsquared&sup2; gang strut to the music of Run D.M.C. mixed with electronic and hip-hop beats.
The models are truly “B-Boy Style”: nylon shorts and track pants, and hip-hop bling layered over polo’s and tank tops.  
Casual and classic combined in a new twist, featuring three-piece suits and tuxedo jackets in unusual fabrics such as denim.  The dominant colours of the collection are white, black and gold, interspersed with accents of yellow, green, red and turquoise.
Flashy metal chains with boom box, microphone and earphone charms are the ‘must’ of every outfit.  Objects typically seen in the barber shop are also used: tooth-combs, scissors, and hair pins.
The hip-hop culture of the ‘70s brought gold-trimmed square sun glasses, patent trimmed sneakers, purses in precious leathers, and thick, wide ties.

	<description><![CDATA[<img src="news/KSTORE.jpg" class="imgnews" height="200px" /><p><b>THE OPENING OF NEW MONOBRAND STORE OF DSQUARED2 IN KIEV IN PARTNERSHIP WITH HELEN MARLEN GROUP</b></p>Milan May 26th 2008 - Dsquared2 opens a new mono brand store in Kiev, in partnership agreement with H?n Marl?Group, a company, leader for distribution of the most prestigious brands of luxury in Ukraine, founded by Michael and Oksana Kavitzki in 1994. 
The boutique faces to Gorodetskogo street with its 5 display windows,, the most important shopping street of the city, 50 meters away from Kiev’s famous Passage. 
It covers an area of 210 square meters and was built according to an architectural design that is consistent with the concept which is introduced with the boutique of Milan: &quot;A taste of home, where Canadian woods meet Italian design.&quot; 
The store is warm and welcoming. All furnishings such as lamps deer horn or the walls of birch trunks of the change rooms, were designed to evoke the pristine forests of Canada, land of origin of Dean and Dan Caten, designers for Dsquared2. 
The floor is concrete black Treaty to wax routes while the change rooms are shortened through a step under-illuminated with head and a steel coating carpeting colour marmot. 
The exhibition space is marked by high and narrow blades covered with black leather and tested in steel, surrounding the collection, help to keep the space visually natural. 
In the boutique of Dsquared2 in Kiev, collections of apparel and accessories man and woman will be available from the Spring / Summer 2008. In the most internal part of the boutique, the new fragrances of Dsquared2 He WOOD and She WOOD will be also on sale. 
The opening of the mono brand store-Kiev is the third stage behind the retail project that has already started with the opening of boutiques in Milan and Capri and that, by 2008, will lead to the opening of mono brand stores of Dsquared2 Istanbul, Hong Kong and Moscow.

Attila, Napoleon and Saint Esprit will inhabit the magical Canadian forest, symbolising love for their land, recreated by the Caten twins inside the flagship store in Milan.
These three crazy characters/stools, that are strikingly original and anti-conformist, will peep out from among the huge trunks, maple leaves and typical, earthy colours of the great Canadian woods, winking at the people passing by.
From the fusion of fashion and design between these two major names that have contributed to the success of Italian products around the world, comes the desire to experiment and create joint initiatives that will be extended during the exhibition.
The project between Dsquared2 and Kartell will be celebrated with a cocktail party at the Mumm Champagnerie Bar, located inside the flagship store at Via Verri 4 — Milan at 6pm on 18 April.

The awards ceremony will take place during the gala Night of Stars, which over the years has rewarded designers like: Giorgio Armani, Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney and Oscar de la Renta. 
The famous Canadian photographer and fashion journalist Julie Enfield will be announcing Dean and Dan Caten during this special event.  
In the event to be held in the historic Art Deco building The Carlu, there will be more than 500 guests chosen among the most influential personalities in the field of marketing, retail, cosmetics and textile industry. 
The same evening, after the event, the publishing house Kontent Group will host a party in the honor of the twins at the Gibsone Jessop Gallery, where a selection of black&amp;white and color photos of Caten twins shot by Julie Enfield during the last fashion shows in Milan will be displayed.

The new store is designed by Dean and Dan Caten in collaboration with Storage, the young architecture company, which had also designed the first flagship store of Dsquared2 in Milan opened July 2007.
The location of the store in Capri is unique for its popularity and beauty since it has been the hot spot for movies of 50s and 60s, where large forests and pure colors of the heavens of Canada merge with the blue partenopei. 
The new store hosts the collections for men and women with shoes and accessories. There will be an exclusive cocktail party on june 2008 to celebrate the opening.

The 5-year licensing agreement, renewable for another 5 years, is consistent with Marcolin’s Fashion &amp; Luxury division portfolio.  Once established, it is projected to generate a turnover of approximately 20 million euros.
This agreement marks Dsquared2’s debut in the eyewear market. The launch of the first sunglass  collection is planned for the first half of 2009 and will be followed by prescription frames soon after. Dean &amp; Dan Caten, the Canadian designers and founders of Dsquared2 are the winners of the GQ Spanish Award “Men of the Year”.
Among the numerous awards, the most important was the one given by the famous Spanish model Ariadne Artiles to Dsquared2 as “Best designer of the year”,  due to “their ability to create casual looks while keeping the elegance and on the other hand to have renewed the elegance” affirmed the GQ director Javier Fernandez de Angulo.
“We are honoured” – said the Canadian designer Dean &amp; Dan Caten -  to have received this important recognition as the GQ Award”.
This is the second Spanish award won by the Canadian designers, last year they received the prestigious award “Aguja de Oro 2006”, given to the designer that during the last year has been recognized for the original creations in the international catwalks.

The DVD was recorded during her only Italian tour date, where the artist managed to gather together seventy thousands people at the San Siro stadium in Milan: a truly amazing success. 
At the concert she wore only Dsquared2 total looks, especially created for her by the twin designers Dean &amp; Dan Caten.
Along with the DVD the pop singer also presented the book “Fai quello che sei”, a sort of diary written by Laura herself, that features pictures taken by the photographer Antonio Motta during her triumphant concert at the San Siro stadium, where the artist was the first female singer who had ever performed.]]></description>

In the closing scene Dean &amp; Dan are styling Fergie in their Swarovski crystal caged feather dress when she clumsily falls from the roof top into her lovers arms!

The mono-brand store will be officially inaugurated by an exclusive cocktail party on September during Milan women’s fashion week.
The new retail space, located at No. 4 Via Verri in the heart of Milan, was designed by the twins in collaboration with Storage, a young Italian architectural studio, which has created a number of corner shops and shop-in-shop display spaces for the world's most prestigious department stores, as well as the new headquarters in Milan.
The store will house Dsquared2‘s Men’s/Women’s collections, Accessories, Shoes and the new men's fragrance, &quot;He Wood&quot;, now on sale exclusively in the Milan store ahead of the official product launch in September.
The project faithfully imparts the deep affection that the two stylists have for Canada, their birthplace, and aims at recreating the Dsquared2 lifestyle. According to Dean &amp; Dan Caten, it’s ”A taste of home, where the Canadian woods meet Italian design”.

On June 2nd, the gates of the San Siro Stadium in Milan will open, and for the first time in history, a female artist in the music world will perform there.
Dean &amp; Dan Caten, the designers behind the brand Dsquared2, have created Laura’s rock-chic total black look for the event: “It was fantastic to contribute, together with Laura, to the creation of an evening of music, rock and fashion. Amazing like the voice of one our favourite Italian female artists”, affirmed the Canadian twins.
The looks created for Laura Pausini are inspired by the “woman warrior” Autumn/Winter  2007/2008 Dsquared2 collection.  An assertive woman in combat,  with a combination of feisty and subtle, feminine and rock, a true and honest expression of her gentle and strong image. 
Laura embodies that image: the one who wins the game yet remains herself, on stage and in the arena of life Dsquared2 will dress Laura’s band, and 300 people of her crew, with outfits created ad hoc for the event. 
Laura will wear 3 Dsquared2 outfits during her performance. Starting with Dsquared2 denim jeans paired with a black chiffon shirt made precious through the use of metal ring shoulder details, stretch leather pants and a tight bustier in an innovative high tech material exaggerated with the use of zippers, and last but not least, an evening gown with d_collet_ in lace with inserts in black varnish and studs. 
The accessories used to highlight and complement these looks; transparent vinyl sandals trimmed in black satin and ankle boots in black guanterie, both with “boxer heels”.

Thanks to this agreement, the Canadian born designers have broken into the world of football.  They have brought optimism to the sport, as well as the stylistic-creative verve and fantasy of their collections.  Dsquared2 has created and produced 100 outfits for men and 15 for women; dressing everyone from managers, the main team, staff who work in the stadium, trainers and medical staff of the Junior Football team.
