DSQUARED² AND STAFF UNITED September 6th, 2010. Staff International, the pret-à-porter manufacturing and distributing company belonging to Only The Brave, the holding group of Renzo Rosso, and Dsquared2, the brand owned by designers Dean and Dan Caten, have announced the signing of the new license contract. The contract has been renewed before the termination of the previous terms, which would have expired with the Spring/Summer 2012 collections. The new contract will have a duration of 17 years until the Spring/Summer 2027 collections, and grant Staff International the worldwide exclusive rights to plan, develop, produce and distribute the Dsquared2 ready-to-wear collections.


The long-term license contract terms are aimed to allow for the ambitious growth projected for the brand, which anticipates the development of products for specific and diverse market segments. Most importantly however, it focuses on the accelerated retail expansion of the brand in the next three years with the opening of five flagship stores in New York, Tokyo, Paris, London, and Los Angeles, which will be added to that of Milan and other mono-brand stores in other cities which have opened in collaboration with prestigious local partners. The retail project, initiated in 2007 with the opening of the flagship store in Via Verri 4 in the middle of the ‘Golden Triangle’ of Milanese fashion, evolved throughout 2008 with the opening of boutiques in Capri, Kiev, Istanbul and Hong Kong. 2009 followed with the opening of four additional stores: Dubai, Singapore, Cannes, and a second boutique in Hong Kong. 2010 marks the opening of Montecarlo, Athens, and Thessaloniki, three new European store openings which are ambitious steps in the retail program, and lay the foundations for the next developments in China, USA and Japan.

DSQUARED2 SPRING SUMMER 2011 MEN'S collection - summer: call me Driving in a spider cabriolet to the beat of the smash hit Call Me, towards Dsquared2's American Gigolo man for the summer of 2011. The inspiration is the cult movie that catapults Richard Gere into a superstar, all with the background, broadwalk, and beach of sunny California.

Overcoats and structured jackets are tailored to typical Italian perfection, detailed with gold maxi-buttons. The supple suede jacket takes us back to exactly that which was worn by Julian Kay in the film. Shirts are made-to-measure and suits are tailored impeccably, though the stiffness of the classic men's suit is toned down by the bright, vibrant colours typical of Dsquared2.

There is an outfit for every occassion in the closet of the modern gigolo, both for formal occassions and for a casual stroll: Shorts, bathers, jackets, all that which is needed to relax and have fun, including the most elegant of all pants, high-waisted jeans.

Milan, June 10th 2010. The F/W 2010 DSQUARED2 advertising campaign is once again brought to life by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggot’s impeccable shots.

Nudity observes and discloses the natural essence of fashion: the human body is the aseptic inspiration for the Caten twins. The atmosphere is cold inside the modern anatomy lab, recalling a series of clinical experiments. The models are imprisoned inside crystal cabins, similar to cooling cells that preserve and emphasize the importance of each look.
The aggressive and inexpressive woman is coloured almost monochromatically, balanced by an alternating palette of black and white; opposition, however, is represented by slips, latex gloves and shocking red lips.
Ultra skinny leather dresses clothe the DSQUARED2 woman, as she is wearing shoes and high “spinal” heels.
Cotton hockey shirts and dark jeans are worn by the DSQUARED2 man, though he sometimes experiments bare-chested. He is strong and severe, but is still imprisoned: a concept that synergizes the F/W 2010 DSQUARED2 theme, and is one that hints at Damien Hirst’s art style.
DSQUARED2 eyewear also strictly follows Dean & Dan Caten’s concept, showing big, severe, rigid and geometric shapes. Metal details and stylized squaring serve to emphasize their intensity.

Milano, January 15 2010 - "Let's go Camping! Deep in the Boreal Forest of Canada": with this motto the iconic designer duo, Dean and Dan Caten, return to the Canadian wilderness and pay homage to their home and native beginnings. Dsquared²'s love for honest and harmonious moments is captured by photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot who, for the third season, focus a sensual lens on their ever-expanding and fun-loving creations.

But this is camping with a twist. This time the globe's bon vivants of innovative style venture away from the city and back to nature. Embraced both by sunshiny days and by the quietness of the night forest, the Canadian-born Daria Werbowy is the perfect icon for this theme. Mert and Marcus lead us to a campsite deep in Canada's boreal forest where, under the brilliant northern lights, we encounter Daria who is flanked by three attentive scouts, who are all more than willing to help improve her pathfinding skills.

What emerges is not just the sartorial beauty of Dsquared² in the nocturnal realm of the Canadian northlands, but a true declaration of love and gratitude for Canada.

Daria was chosen for this campaign because not only is she is a world class beauty, but she is also a Canadian icon. It was Daria who, in September 2009, presented the Walk of Fame award to the designer twins. Daria was a fitting choice because, just the year before, she herself was awarded a star on the Walk of Fame.

Milano, December 1st 2009 - Fashion and football: a truly perfect combination. Yesterday in Barcelona, for the occasion of an official photo shoot of the team, the new Dsquared² branded “off field” uniforms for the Barcelona Football Club were presented.

The Mistress of Ceremonies Simona Ventura, along with her camera, was present at the shoot, which took place in the Camp Nou field.
The players were in euphorically good spirits, freshly re-instated as the true symbol of Spanish footballers. They had just won an important match against Real Madrid, an intense game full of emotion, a victory which classified Barça at the top of the Spanish League.
A huge applause welcomed the designers of Dsquared² upon their entrance onto the field yesterday, as they posed with the players for the official foto.
“We are delighted to present today the new formal uniforms of Barça – declared Dean and Dan Caten – to toast to the victory of the big match, not only in Spain but also all over the world: the classic Barcelona-Real Madrid. DSQUARED2 OPENS ITS SECOND RETAIL LOCATION IN HONG KONG Milan, Italy – 1 December 2009 – Less than one year after launching its first boutique in Hong Kong’s On Lan Street (Central) on September 2008, DSQUARED² opened its second retail location, at the ground floor of the luxurious Harbour City mall, situated on Canton Road.

Dsquared² clothes the great expectations of Juventus VINOVO, 3rd SEPTEMBER 2009 – Fashion and football, a perfect alliance indeed: for the fourth consecutive year, the formal uniforms of Juventus football club will be designed by Dsquared², and today they were presented in the press room of the Juventus Center in Vinovo.

Twins Dean and Dan, designers of one of the most loved prêt-à-porter labels worn by the stars of the international jet set, have designed the new official uniforms for Juventus, renewing the agreement signed in February 2006, with Juventus football club.

THEIR STAR ON CANADA'S WALK OF FAME
Milano - May 9, 2009 - Dean and Dan Caten, Canadian born twins and designers behind the forward thinking DSQUARED2 lifestyle fashion brand, have recently been honored with a star on Canada's Walk of Fame and awarded the Canada Honour for 2009. The world's most famous Canadian fashion duo will cement their status for the official unveiling in Toronto on September 11-12, 2009

Initially modelled after the Hollywood idea, Canada's Walk of Fame has now evolved into one of the most prestigious honours in Canada. The Canada Honour is bestowed annually to individuals in music, film, sports, literary, visual, and performing arts, as well as science and innovation, who have demonstrated the essence of the Canadian identity: peace, diversity, harmony, social responsibility, boldness, success, humility, and passion for their art. Selections are made from nominations received from people across Canada and around the globe. In 2008 tribute was paid to such Canadian superstars as Bryan Adams, James Cameron, Francis Bay, K.D. Lang, Michael J. Fox, and Steve Nash.

DSQUARED2 E-MOTION BY GASTON MARTICORENA Milan April 23 - Dean and Dan Caten of Dsquared2 collaborate with American designer Gaston Marticorena to produce an art installation for Salone del Mobile April 22-27 at the Dsquared2 boutique on Via Verri, 4.

Marticorena's pieces of design, often discussed and sometimes controversial have quickly met the favor of the public and have been purchased in the past by celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker and David Bowie.

Since then, the Caten twins were impressed by creations of this young artist and recently decided to work together to design "Six Hands". This new work will highlight different areas in the Milan boutique using various lamp sculpture and kaleidoscope techniques from early film experiments. They will project light onto six different stylish silhouettes from the 1930's with men in tails - reminiscent of Fred Astaire on Broadway. This also is likened to the Dsquared Fall/Winter 2009 men's and women's show which held a similar theme. Stylized figures of owls and deer are also included as a direct reference to the Canadian woods.

Finally the Dsquared boutique further sets the mood with a celebration of the artist's interpretation of forest. This strengthens the presence of the twin's Canadian roots in the project. They use recycled materials and plaster to recreate squirrels, leaves and logs.

Dean and Dan on Air: Style in Stereo will launch on May 5 as a one-hour special airing from 9:00 pm - 10:00 pm ET on BPM, SIRIUS channel 36 and XM channel 81. The show will replay May 6 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm ET, and May 7 from 3:00 - 4:00 pm ET.
